Bad Pound Coaches

What does Jack Hamilton think he is doing? His "sit on the ball and do nothing" style is not working, its foolish, coaching like that is the reason HS basketball needs a shot-clock! For a team to only score 6 points in a half is un heard of. In the years since David Mullins' resignation, Pound has had some great talent, but no one with any real savy holding the clipboard, its sad to see a group of kids that good, be coached into playing that bad! Same goes for the football team. Jason Mullins is the worst coach I have ever seen. Running up the gut on 3rd and 25? Pitchouts and screen passes on 3rd and 29? What about gaining 60 yards on the ground in 3 running plays, then passing once you get in the zone? What the heck is that all about. Again, its sad to see kids that are that big, strong and talented be forced to play like that. Jason Mullins should resign or be resigned. Same goes for Hamilton. All the parents should get together and demand they be replaced!

Nah Verdict it's not me. I'm glad to see you can actually make a post though that doesn't end up edited. Care to discuss the NOW organization again?

Coach Bentley didn't deliberately try to hold the basketball for a majority of the game like Pound does today. His offensive plan was to have a set half-court offense with plays that focused on getting into the post because his teams usually had the advantage. It seems like Pound is holding the ball just to keep the game close. Kelly would slow the game down but that was intended to let their players get into their offensive sets so that they could run a play.
The test is simple, if "your" team wins a national championship, do you get a championship ring? If the answer is yes, then you can say "we." If not, you can't.

Re: Bad Pound Coaches

The reason a football coach runs draws and screens on 3rd and a mile is because there is a better chance of getting a first down set up by some good blocks than throwing the ball 20 yards down the field into 3 deep zone coverage when the defense drops 8. Even the best of teams do exactly what you are complaining against, maybe you should learn a little bit about football before you criticize someone for intelligent play calling.

As for the basketball situation, sitting on the ball isnt a pretty thing to do, I havent seen them play, but when you have inferior talent you dont want to get into a shootout. Slowing the pace down is how Dave Bentley made a career. Its a very effective way to coach as well. I doubt Jack Hamilton wants to play that brand of ball, but if his team stinks, he has to do his best to find a way to win.

I guess his supporters in this effort to get Hamilton & Mullins fired would be members of the Otto_man Empire!!!
